About Dr. John G. Kennedy

Following an accomplished career as a competitive track, fencing, and rugby athlete, NYU Langone Health surgeon Dr. John G. Kennedy began his career in orthopedics specializing in sports medicine. After earning his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, Dr. John G. Kennedy moved to New York City and completed clinical fellowships at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Licensed in Massachusetts and New York, Dr. John Kennedy is an expert in treating lower-limb sports injuries. In addition to performing orthopedic operations at NYU Langone Medical Center, he is sought out by professional athletes from the NBA, NHL, and NFL. He focuses on both surgical and non-surgical treatment of soft-tissue and ankle bone injuries, cartilage lesions, and tendon reconstruction.

Dr. Kennedy has been recognized by several professional organizations, including the Royal College of Surgeons. Alongside long-term leadership positions with the International Research Fellow Foot and Ankle Department and Orthopaedic Intercollegiate Board of Examiners, he has been involved in pro-bono medical work. He led a surgical team to treat underserved patients in the Dominican Republic and is a longtime volunteer for the veteran-focused Wounded Warrior Project.
